An intense course to maximize both fun and learning!
GROUPS & LEVELSLindy Hop, level 1 - "Get in the Groove"
These classes are designed to fit both lower levels AND higher levels, all the way up to advanced dancers that want to fine tune their technique and basic framework of Lindy Hop - it is all about the fundamentals! This level also includes all Solo Jazz classes and is not suitable for complete Lindy Hop beginners. Lindy Hop, level 2 - "Let Loose" In these classes we expect you to have at least a few years of Lindy Hop experience. You are used to dance with rhythmical footwork variations and you manage both lower tempos as well as pretty up tempo songs. This level also includes all Solo Jazz classes. Lindy Hop, "The Whole Shebang" (level 1 + 2) This is a full weekend package and fits anyone that qualify for the higher level course. Within the "Whole Shebang" workshop you will get to fine tune your fundamentals to then make it spark and shine like a diamond! "Jazz it up" - Solo Jazz (all levels) We will work with the groove, the move and to refine the movements in you jazz steps and also give you new steps and combinations that you can use both within Lindy Hop and standalone. 18:30-20:00 - Get together class for all Lindy Hop levels - "It ain't what you do, it's the way that you do it!" Friday social dance (at Stadsöskolans aula) 20:00-22:00 - Dance like no one is watching! 2 hours of social dancing to DJ swing music. If you can, bring some "Swedish fika" (cakes and coffee) and let's share some sweets, good music and great dancing with each other! SATURDAY 13 JAN 11:00-12:30 - "Get in the Groove" (all Lindy Hop levels) 12:30-13:00 - BREAK 13:00-14:10 - "Jazz it up" (all students, including Solo Jazz dancers) 14:30-16:00 - "Let Loose" (higher Lindy Hop level) Saturday social dance (at Ebeneser) with live music! Doors open at XX.00 - food, drinks are available from the café until 22:00. 18:00-19:15 - Free taster class for complete beginners in Lindy Hop. Teachers: Åsa & Daniel Heedman. 19:15-22.30 - Live swing music by some of Luleå's best jazz musicians. Dance performance during the evening. Entrance: 130 SEK (paid at the door) ??? stämmer priset? All classes and also the friday social dance is held at Stadsöskolans aula, in Gammelstad just outside of Luleå (10 min from Smedjegatan with bus 1 or 2 towards Sunderbyn Sjukhus). Ebeneser The saturday social dance is held at Ebeneser, in Luleå city centre. If you have problems finding the way or the right entrance, please call us on +46705766033. The Whole Shebang; 10h of classes (all classes!) - 1.450 SEK/person. Click here to register. Get in the Groove; 7h of classes (level 1 Lindy Hop & Solo Jazz): 1.100 SEK/person. Click here to register. Let Loose; 7h of classes (level 2 Lindy Hop & Solo Jazz: 1.100 SEK/person. Click here to register. Jazz it up 2,5h of solo-jazz; 450 SEK/person. Click here to register. Solo-Jazz is a big part of Lindy Hop and therefore it is not an option to skip the Solo-Jazz classes. The only reason for us to schedule it separately is that we have many dancers who normally take our Solo-Jazz classes that will have the possibility to join at least a small part of this workshop. TRAVEL & TRANSPORTATIONIf you travel from outside of Luleå you can fly here with Norwegian, SAS and Ryan air. Flights from Stockholm take about one hour.
Night train from Stockholm with SJ/Vy takes about 8 hours. Bus connection from Luleå airport to city center takes 10 minutes and cost 35 SEK. HOUSINGThere are plenty of hotels in Luleå city center. The workshop is held in Gammelstad, which you reach easily within 10 minutes by bus that goes regularly about 4 times an hour.
