quality of movement - solo dance classes, 8-9 june 2019
Learn how to use your body, your way of moving and learn new ways of expressing yourself with your most important instrument as a dancer: your whole body. Hips, shoulders, knees, legs, arms, head, hands and feet.... No matter what type of dance style you normally do you will have use of this workshop!
We will make use of all our dance experience throughout the years - all together we have been: competing in Ballroom, Swedish champion in Dubbel-Bugg, member of Chiqui Dixon Afro Cuban dance company and of course and foremost; working on a professional level as both performers (with The Rhythm Hot Shots and the Harlem Hot Shots) and teachers for more than 20 years in Vernacular, Authentic Jazz Dance and Lindy Hop. The kind of individual-styled jazz dance that came around at the same time as the jazz music bloomed. And on top of that - today we take a lot of inspiration from West African dancing to show the eye opening, rich and full ancestor movements to many of today's different dance styles.
The Workshop
In this workshop we will focus on movements and how to use your body in its full potential. We are going to use different types of music, dance-styles and influences to inspire and challenge each participant into using their bodies in new unexplored ways to its full potential - a complete movement with versatile nuances.
