COURSE FOCUS
A 10-week course specialized for Lindy Hop teachers & dancers that want to work more in the tradition of "old school" Lindy Hop where we put a lot of emphasis on what we have learnt from originators of this dance, like Mr. Frankie Manning, Ms. Norma Miller and Mr. Albert Minns. These dancers are our biggest source of inspiration & information who we have all worked and danced with, direct or indirect. Mr. Frankie Manning is the dancer that we worked more closely with among the original dancers and Åsa even had the opportunity to teach together with "Frankie" during some years in the 1990's.
We base our teaching on what we've learnt from these fantastic dancers and other original dancers active in Harlem, New York during the heydays of Swing; 1930`s - 1940's. But then we, like every other dancer, have our own take on this wonderful dance form that now is widely spread all around the world.
With 30 years of experience of dancing, performing and teaching Lindy Hop we will share our most useful experiences, lessons and advice for teachers. It is mainly the same "lessons learnt" that most Lindy Hop teachers sooner or later figure out after many years of teaching and reflecting - but you will get them easily served, compiled and explained in this course :-)
We will help you grow as a teacher, partly by making you reflect around different Lindy Hop related topics but also by providing useful tools and exercises to develop as a teacher from a pedagogical perspective.
AFTER SIGNING UP
You will receive the full course content immediately after you signed up and paid for the course and can then choose freely to work on only a selection of the assignments and of course in what order. We encourage you to really study the instructional videos for your own dancing, but preferably also try it when teaching your own students. The course ends with a mutual live session where all participants gets to ask questions about the course content, how it worked (or didn't work) for yourself or your students, but also questions that are not topics brought up in this course plan.
After a fully completed course a course certificate will be issued.
"Teachers Academy - step 1" is a base course which creates the fundamental knowledge for an upcoming step 2: "Teachers Academy - Practical".
